THE ISLAND & BEYOND

THE ISLAND

EAST SHORELINE

The shoreline directly to the east of Locus City has a long history of development. Initially reclaimed for the purpose of use as farmland, its stunning ocean views and general accessibility from the main centers of population have made it a popular place of respite from the sprawl of the city.

THE FALLS

One of the first areas on the island to be reclaimed was the natural wonder previously known as Niagara Falls, now simply referred to as the Falls.

Because of the effect of an Endling crystal embedded in the Falls’ lake, the whole area is not only balmy and clement-weathered all year round, it has a mineral composition beneficial to holistic human health and is generally restorative and relaxing. The crystal naturally seems to keep unfriendly flora, fauna, and Grudges away.

Nowadays, the Falls are a popular getaway spot for Locus City residents seeking a change of scenery. Public transit in the form of over-ground trains are available to shuttle citizens back and forth, and the area has built up a small tourist industry.

THE SHORELINE

The remaining majority of the island is yet unexplored. Deposits of Endling crystals have rendered large swathes of land entirely uninhabitable by humans.

Some crystals have localized effects on the weather, creating extreme environments like ice plains and deserts.

On top of that, the effects of their alien radiation over the past 5 centuries have mutated some of the surrounding flora and fauna, much like in the same way humans have mutated to use heart, into creatures unfamiliar and occasionally dangerous.

The Logistics and Operations Bureau regularly sends out expeditions of trained dispatchers, accompanied by combatants from other factions, to survey the surrounding lands. They hope to discover more land safe for human development to expand Locus City’s reach as the population grows.

THE REST OF THE WORLD

THE OCEAN

Locus City’s island moves at a fast pace through Earth’s now-tumultuous waters. Island residents have very little context about where, exactly, on the planet they are. Besides the changing seasons, there are no indicators as to their relative location.

The island occasionally passes by other floating landmasses similar to it, but none of them have ever been observed to be inhabited.

OTHER CIVILIZATIONS

At the current time, there are no other known survivors of the Endling impact. Very little is known about the rest of the world.

As far as the people of Locus City are aware, they and its island are the only existing remnant of human civilization.
