NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

the citizens' stalwart arm.

// OVERVIEW

The city's largest independent, citizen-run, non-profit volunteer defense organization.

Meant to embody a unified society and a collaborative and protective spirit, members are often ordinary citizens who voluntarily dedicate their spare time to patrolling and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the city they live in.

The Neighborhood Watch receives some sponsorship from the Clementbox, Public Safety Bureau, and the Logistics & Operations Bureau, but its activities are entirely member-driven. The glint of their distinctive, colorful badges can be seen all throughout the city in all manner of activities, such as rebuilding efforts, firefighting, regular patrolling duties, and even helping ducks cross the street to safety.

Citizens who are not employed at any major defense organizations, but are interested in patrol and protection, are encouraged to register with the Neighborhood Watch.

LOCATION

LOCUS CITY COMMUNITY CENTER

town center

One searching for the Neighborhood Watch's official headquarters might find themselves surprised to be directed to an ordinary-looking, rather nondescript local community center, though the Watch's presence can be felt all throughout.

Prospective members must pass through the common spaces to get to the captain's office on the second floor. The open areas are lively and well-used; a steady stream of volunteers filters in and out, resting between patrols or simply gathering where they know their fellow community members will be.

Even in the dead of night, the community center is rarely completely silent. It's not uncommon to find someone making a pot of food — enough for everyone — in the kitchen, a handful of familiar faces napping on the homely couches together, or a group of volunteers winding down from their patrol by playing cards.

The center's additional facilities include: a well-loved and well-outfitted gym and fitness studio, a small pool, class and studio spaces for rent, a library, a firefighters' pole descending from the second floor, a fully-stocked kitchen, and ample washrooms for all.

PERSONS OF INTEREST

  1. captain of the watch

    HARUKI MIYAHARA (MIYA)

    he/him

    played by: koo

A high-strung but deeply caring and self-sacrificing individual. He ended up in this position unintentionally, simply by accumulating a near gargantuan number of volunteer hours with the faction. At some point, he was deemed most qualified to lead the Neighborhood Watch.

He took up the mantle with equal amounts of pride and trepidation. He thinks of the Watch as his second home.

Despite his frenetic and fussy nature, he is dependable when he needs to be.

  2. captain's secretary

    DANYU MURONG

    she/her

    played by: hope

A woman whose chilled eyes and serious demeanor thinly hide a playfully sarcastic and go-get-em attitude.

A close friend of the Watch's leader, her loyalty (badgering) was what landed her the role of secretary. She unintentionally maintains a public appearance as the city's guard hound, but can commonly be found in a high-vis vest and directing pedestrian traffic.

After long years of being a hooligan, her heart belongs to the protection of the faction.
