// THE PROTECTORS OF LOCUS CITY
The citizenry are encouraged to arm themselves, but even Locus City's militaristic government realizes that sending unskilled combatants into the field would be a waste of life. As a result of this reality, the Combatant License was born.
Combatants are citizens with higher clearance who will be expected to respond in the case of a massively society-altering event / a high-level threat. They may be support members and are not necessarily front-line defenders.
In order to be licensed as a Combatant, a character must pass the Combatant Licensing Exam.
Characters applying to the group will be Combatant exam-taker hopefuls employed at any of the 5 playable factions. At time of application, characters should not already be Combatants, though they may have been employed at a faction for as long as theyβd like.
The entry event, held upon acceptance, will canonically guide characters through the process of obtaining their Combatant license.

VISUAL APPLICATION
Your visual application should include a half-body of your character. Lines should be relatively clean and art should be colored in some way.
Feel free to personalize or decorate your application in any empty space.

The effect of their Heart. At this time in Locus City, almost everyone is born with one.

- Going from a small amount of Heart utilization to a medium to a large amount, what about their power increases?
- Are there different stages, or it is a linear increase in power?
- Are there further consequences for your character to overuse beyond the typical Heart exhaustion, Desolation, and Necrosis?
Heart abilities and colors may be re-balanced and tweaked further after group acceptance.

A small item (handheld or smaller) with sentimental value that served as the catalyst for your characterβs Heart awakening.

A minimum of 5 personality traits, with at least 2 being positive and 2 being negative.

Please include a tl;dr under 250 words.
When writing character backstories, please ensure they mostly stand on their own. Pre-established relationships in apps will only be accepted if both muns list each other as ride-or-dies.
About Personal Motivation
The application assessment process will place emphasis on thoughtful engagement with the universe's lore, character motivation, and potential for personal narrative.
Characters are expected to have signed up for their faction / as a combatant somewhat willingly, and to have a strong personal motivation beyond the mundane negative, like:
- the need to make a living
- the need to gain status
- the need to escape a dull life
These things can be part of their motivation, but there should be more to the story.
They should either have, or have the capacity to grow into having, some kind of positive motivation:
- a desire to protect and preserve
- a personal ideal
- an attachment to the specifics of the world around them
- a reason to put themselves on the line, for either specific others or society at large
- a reason not only to die but to live
- a specific thing they are seeking
Characters having additional, secret motivations is also encouraged.

Characters have 15 points to allocate between all stats. Each stat should be a minimum of 0 and a maximum of 6.
